December first was awfully cold and windy to go for a run along the Findlay Township section of the trail. But 150 runners braved the cold to compete in the second annual "Trot for Tots" that benefited both the Marine Corp Toys for Tots and the Montour Trail.

In fact, there were actually two events that day: a 5K and a 10K run. Each participant was asked to bring a toy along with them to donate at the sign in. The event went well, and there were no medical problems or disruptions to trail users.

Kevin Smith, the owner of Elite Runner's and Walkers on route 60 in Robinson Township, was the promoter and director of the event. In addition to collecting a couple of vans full of toys, the event raised $1,000 for the Montour Trail. Congratulations to Kevin and all the runners who came out to brave the cold for this charitable event!
