Top photo (at right) showing US Congressman Tim Murphy presenting a special federal appropriation of $250,000 to MTC president dennis Pfeiffer. In addition to the federal appropriation, this project will also utilize a grant from the federal enhancement program (TEA-21) and a PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) grant. Federal funds will be used to refurbish existing bridges on both sides of Greer Tunnel, and to build a new bridge across Valley Brook Road (~ trail mile 29.8). DCNR funds will be used for materials to build new trail surface by MTC volunteers. Installation of two other bridges (MP 30.2 across Valley Brook Rd, MP 30.5 across stream near Peters water treatment plant) are not funded at this time.

Mark Imgrund, MTC VP (center photo at right), summarizes the project scope and benefits to local communities.
